Tent Care
Proper Maintenance Adds Years to the Life of Your Tent
Preparing to Clean Your Tent
Important: Be sure to use a mild vinyl-safe soap. In most cases a concentrated cleaning solution can damage and harm your tent's fabric. We recommend a mild liquid dish soap diluted with water.
Supplies needed to care for your Tent and Walls:
Mild Liquid Dish Soap
Bucket and Soft Brush
Mop and Broom
Your Tent has been manufactured with high quality American made materials. Using correct cleaning procedures and avoiding some common mistakes will ensure that your Tent provides you with the maximum lifespan of a vinyl laminate cover.
Your Tent tops and walls can be cleaned the easiest when stretched out over a flat clean area. Your driveway or parking lot can be a good location for this job. You can also clean your tops while on the frame if it's permanently installed. For tents that go up and down you can use the frame on short legs or no legs to give you a place to clean your top and allow drying off the wet surface.
For General Cleaning:
Remove all dust and organic matter (leaves, pine needles, ect.) with a soft broom. Mix a solution of 1 gallon water to 2 tablespoons neutral liquid dish soap such as Ivory or Dawn. Scrub down all the vinyl sections with a soft brush or mop then rinse thoroughly. Extra dirty tops can set with soapy water on them to help loosen the dirt. Do not allow the soap to dry on the material. Once all the dirt has been removed rinse with clear water. Allow the vinyl to air dry completely. Towel dry all areas making sure you have removed water from under grommet strips and velcro flaps.
Fold the vinyl in the same way as needed to install on the frame.
Your fabric has mold and mildew inhibitors in the vinyl, but it is very important that the materials are not stored permanently while wet. Over time mildew can grow requiring the use of bleach or harsh detergents. Exposure to the vinyl from concentrated cleaners can shorten the life of the vinyl. If you choose to use a harsh cleaner be sure to rinse very thoroughly so there is no residue left on the vinyl.
Do not use the product Simple Green it will damage the fabric on contact.
Avoid Common types of Damage
Cuts & Abrasions:
Don't drag vinyl over rough surfaces.
Don't walk on tops while on rough surface, stones, rough asphalt, pavers.
Take care around landscaping.
